Nghe An Packaging Joint Stock Company Develops Remote Release Discharge Spout FIBC Bags for the US Market

In heavy bulk material handling, worker safety during discharge operations is a top priority. When discharging up to 2,000 kg of bulk minerals, chemicals, or agricultural products from an FIBC (Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container) jumbo bag, traditional bottom spouts require operators to reach or stand directly beneath the suspended load to untie or cut the release cords. This creates significant safety hazards under industrial workplace health and safety protocols.

To eliminate this operational risk, Nghe An Packaging Joint Stock Company (NAPCO) successfully engineered, tested, and commercialized a new line of Remote Release Discharge Spout FIBC Bags.

1. The Challenge: Fast Discharge Without Hazardous Overhead Exposure

A key international client approached NAPCO with a clear operational requirement: they needed an FIBC bottom spout design that allowed operators to release heavy bulk loads rapidly from a safe side distance—completely avoiding the hazard of standing underneath suspended bulk bags.

Key customer criteria:

  • Operator Safety First: Zero necessity for workers to extend hands, arms, or body parts beneath a suspended FIBC bag.

  • Rapid Discharge Cycle: Fast material release mechanism to reduce total offloading time per bag.

  • Structural Reliability: Preventing accidental opening or leakage during dynamic forklift transport and high-tier warehouse stacking.

2. Research, R&D & In-House Prototyping at NAPCO

Upon receiving the request, NAPCO’s engineering team evaluated existing market mechanisms, identified structural stress points, and initiated an intensive R&D process.

Our technical development steps included:

  1. Design Analysis: Studying traditional pyjama spouts, flap closures, and cord locks to create a remote pull-string mechanism.

  2. In-House Prototyping: Fabricating custom sample iterations using high-tensile 100% virgin PP fabric, reinforced webbing loops, and heavy-duty release cords.

  3. Rigorous Factory Load Testing: Conducting multiple internal discharge tests using heavy test media to measure release speed, cord tension tolerances, and closure integrity under full Safe Working Loads (SWL).

3. Two Innovative Remote Release Designs Created

Through our testing program, NAPCO developed two distinct remote release configurations tailored to different bulk material flow characteristics:

Option A: Remote Release with IRIS Discharge Spout

  • How it Works: Incorporates an internal IRIS choke valve mechanism connected to an extended side pull-rope system.

  • Best For: Fine powders, granulates, and flowable materials where controlled or partial discharge speeds are required. The operator simply pulls the side cord from a safe distance to untie or open the inner spout neck.

Option B: Remote Release with Full Open Bottom (Drop-Bottom)

  • How it Works: Utilizes a heavy-duty bottom flap secured by a high-strength remote release locking mechanism.

  • Best For: Sluggish materials, heavy mineral ores, aggregates, or sticky products requiring instant, full-volume discharge without spout bridging or clogging. Pulling the remote lanyard drops the entire bottom panel instantly.

4. Factory Testing & Client Approval

NAPCO produced prototype batches of both designs and dispatched them directly to our client’s operating facility for real-world field trials.

The trial results exceeded client expectations:

  • 100% Workplace Safety Compliance: Operators performed discharge cycles entirely from a safe side clearance.

  • Significantly Faster Offloading: Reduced total discharge cycle times compared to standard tie-spout bags.

  • Zero Accidental Discharges: The safety lock mechanisms held firmly during full transport, shifting, and forklift maneuvers.

5. Full Container Shipment Dispatched to the United States

Following the successful field testing, NAPCO manufactured and dispatched a full container load (FCL) of custom remote release FIBC bags directly to the United States.

This successful development highlights NAPCO’s capability to transform complex customer challenges into certified, mass-manufactured bulk packaging solutions.
